Primary English Grammar Lessons (PSLE-aligned, with examples)
These grammar lessons are for upper primary pupils. Each lesson explains a rule in plain English and shows it in real sentences. It ends with questions, so your child can test the rule straight away.
These pages teach the rules. When a rule makes sense, move on to the PSLE grammar practice sets. Every question there shows the answer and the reason for it.
The lessons
| Lesson | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Nouns | Common and proper nouns, collective nouns, countable and uncountable nouns, and plurals |
| Adjectives | The order adjectives go in, and how to form comparatives and superlatives |
How to use these at home
- Read the rule together. Then cover the page and ask your child to explain it in their own words. If they cannot, go over it again.
- Read the examples out loud. Grammar is easier to remember when your child hears it.
- Move on to the practice sets. For every wrong answer, ask "which rule does this test?" Then read the explanation.
There is a limited number of grammar rules to learn. So with practice, your child can win back most grammar marks in Paper 2. When they know why an answer is right, they stop guessing.
